What is The Open Challenge?

Our goal is to connect TON with various projects, tokens, dApps, and users in order to foster innovation, growth and collaboration within the ecosystem. To this end, we have established a rewards program for builders focusing on DEX Bridges and are incentivizing more token launches, which are essential for any blockchain. We have allocated $20M to liquidity providers and anyone who brings TVL to TON Ecosystem.

Rewards will be distributed to any eligible project that registers, regardless of whether they have already launched a TON Ecosystem project at the time of the program announcement.

How it works and who is eligible:
  • Eligible projects include: DEX, Bridge, Tokens.
  • Rewards will be distributed on a quarterly basis and will be based on TVL buckets. As a project doubles its TVL, its reward will also double.
  • The program is designed to reward the best projects on an ongoing basis in order to attract and retain TVL within TON Ecosystem. It will also retroactively reward projects based on their growth, innovation and contributions to the ecosystem.
  • This program is not intended to serve as a business model in itself for projects and is not a substitute for grants, funding or other commercial structures.

Summary and Explanation:

The program is ongoing and will be subject to adjustments on a quarterly basis:
  • Each TVL bucket is double the previous. Rewards double as a project doubles its TVL. See DefiLlama.
  • Rewards are equal to 2% of the annual TVL.
  • TVL will be calculated based on data from DefiLlama.
  • TVL will be calculated by taking a daily snapshot of Total TVL in DefiLlama as an (prorated) average over the course of the quarter, even if the project started after the quarter began.
  • RTVL will be calculated in USD.
  • Rewards will be distributed in Toncoin and will be subject to a 3-month lockup period from the reward date.
  • On a quarterly basis, projects will be promoted or relegated to the appropriate bucket based on their TVL contribution during that time period.
  • The calculations for TVL will begin on January 21st, 2023 and be measured quarterly thereafter.
  • To be eligible for the program, projects must register.
  • To be eligible for the program, projects must have their data available on DefiLlama.

Below, you will find the most frequently asked questions.
What if I join the quarter late?

Both your TVL and your payout will be prorated for the time you participated.

Will I be paid the annual payout or the quarterly payout?

Payouts will be calculated and paid out quarterly. There is no annual payout, only a quarterly one.

What if I take my application offline after The first payout?

You can do this if you like but you won’t be eligible for any grants in the second quarter. Your application must be online at the time of payout but not during the lockup period.

What if the TON Foundation rejects my registration?

TON Foundation does not intend to reject any registrations so long as the projects are being honest and not making an attempt to game the system. The Foundation will only ban projects if we feel they are acting dishonestly or acting to hurt the Ecosystem. In these cases we will adjust the Rewards Program with the necessary terms to prevent future bad actors.
